How to watermark pdf
- 1Add the PDF you want to mark.
- 2Type your watermark text and tune the opacity, size, and color.
- 3Click ‘Apply watermark & download’ — every page gets stamped at 45°.
A visible watermark changes how a document is handled: reviewers know a DRAFT isn't final, and a CONFIDENTIAL stamp reminds everyone before they hit forward. It's cheap insurance on proposals, designs, and pre-release material.
pdfia applies it without the paradox of uploading your sensitive file to a third party first. The whole operation — render, stamp, save — happens in the tab you're looking at.
Frequently asked questions
+ - Does watermarking upload my document?
No. The stamp is drawn locally in your browser. Ironically, most ‘watermark’ sites make you upload the confidential file you're trying to protect — pdfia doesn't.
+ - Can I use my own wording?
Yes — any text works: CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, DO NOT COPY, a client name, or a date. It's applied identically to every page.
+ - Can the watermark be removed later?
It becomes part of the page content, so casual removal is hard, but a determined user with editing tools could cover or strip it. Treat it as a strong label, not encryption.
+ - Will it obscure my text?
Default opacity is 15%, so the page stays fully readable with the mark clearly visible. Raise or lower the slider to taste.
